Affirming its Commitment to Sustainability, MIND ID Group Strengthens Efforts to Mitigate Forest and Land Fire Impacts

The State-Owned Holding Company for the Mining Industry, MIND ID, has taken swift and coordinated action to respond to the risk of forest and land fires occurring at several points across Indonesia.

Given the impact of these fires on the community's quality of life and the stability of the forest ecosystem, MIND ID Group is bringing forth the spirit of gotong royong (mutual cooperation) by consolidating 60 certified firefighting personnel from various operational areas across Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, and Papua, dispatching them to the affected sites in Mempawah, West Kalimantan.

MIND ID has also mobilized supporting equipment, including firefighting foam, personal protective equipment (PPE), turnout gear, fire hoses, as well as medical and N95 masks for both personnel and the community affected by the smog.

For MIND ID, handling these forest and land fires is aimed at ensuring the community and environment remain protected. This effort seeks to reduce potential health disruptions and socioeconomic vulnerabilities, while ensuring that the environment, including the flora and fauna in the affected areas, can recover quickly.

Furthermore, since hotspots were detected around the operational areas of ANTAM and PT Borneo Alumina Indonesia (PT BAI), the Emergency Response Group (ERG) has mobilized to conduct sweeping, spraying, and hotspot control.

These efforts are being carried out in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and local firefighting teams to ensure targeted and integrated mitigation on the ground.

MIND ID President Director Maroef Sjamsoeddin emphasized that this humanitarian initiative stems from a commitment to always stand with the community during times of crisis. MIND ID ensures that the assistance program runs holistically, not stopping at the disaster mitigation phase, but continuing through the future recovery process.

“This step reflects our deep commitment to the environment and the community. The presence of MIND ID Group volunteers is part of a collective effort to accelerate hotspot control while helping reduce health risks and disruptions to the community's daily activities,” he said while inspecting the affected areas in Mempawah on Friday (4/9/2026).

The Division Head of Institutional Relations at MIND ID, Selly Adriatika, noted that the solidarity of the volunteers coming from Sumatra to Papua reflects the spirit of mutual cooperation and empathy of the MIND ID Group in supporting communities around its operational areas.

“What we are doing is not just for today or for temporary mitigation; it is to ensure the burden felt by the community is lightened, and that the forests can eventually recover to sustain life once again,” she said.

These efforts reflect MIND ID's concrete contribution to supporting environmental and social resilience, so that Indonesia can rise stronger in developing and preserving the natural environment in the future.
