MIND ID Supports Energy Policy, Creating National Self-Sufficiency

MIND ID or Mining Industry Indonesia, the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, stressed its commitment in supporting the implementation of the National Energy Policy (KEN) to create Indonesian energy self-sufficiency.

The commitment is shown through the implementation of Government Regulation Initial Socialization (Sosialisasi Perdana Peraturan Pemerintah - PP) No 40 of 2025 on National Energy Policy conducted by the National Energy Council (Dewan Energi Nasional – DEN) together with MIND ID in Jakarta, Friday (27/2/2026). 
This activity also becomes the creation of synergy and collaboration between the government as policy maker and MIND ID together with all Members as strategic implementors in supporting energy self-sufficiency, energy transition, as well as national decarbonization.

It is understood that the government has published PP No 40 in 2025 on National Energy Policy which replaces PP No 79 of 2014. This regulation has become the platform for all stakeholders in bringing about energy security, fulfilment of national energy needs, as well as hastening decarbonization and energy transition.

Previously, President Prabowo conveyed that energy self-sufficiency is an important pillar in maintaining sustainable development.

The government therefore continues to optimize national resources so that Indonesia does not depend on external parties. “Energy self-sufficiency, is a must! There will be groups, is this possible? Absolutely! We have been calculating, but we have extraordinary advantages,” said the President.

National Energy Council (DEN) Member, Satya Widya Yudha, said that the policy is aligned with the national economic growth target of 8 percent as directed by President Prabowo Subianto.

He believes that energy self-sufficiency will also become the important foundation in strengthening industrialization and competitiveness of Indonesia.

“An important foum for us to collaborate. The implementation of the policy is cooperation among stakeholder interest, whether the government, industry, and all stakeholders in order that the aspirations of our country would be the achievement of energy needs that are quite high,” he explained at the Gathering and Socialization of PP No 40 of 2025 in Jakarta, on Friday (27/2/2026).

MIND ID President Director, Maroef Sjamsoeddin, stressed that MIND ID is ready to implement the strategic role in supporting the implementation of KEN.

Through the management of minerals and coal which has been implemented strategically and the development of various strategic projects by all Members, MIND ID is consistent in supporting the independence, resilience and transition of national energy.

“Through the socialization activity today, the MIND ID Group stressed its commitment to support the implementation of Government Regulation Number 40 of 2025 by following the implementation direction of the National Energy Master Plan,” said Maroef.

To support energy self-sufficiency, MIND ID through PT Bukit Asam has undertaken the optimal management of coal resources and reserves to ensure the support of long term energy resilience agenda.

Bukit Asam manages coal reserves of about 2.88 billion tons and resources of 5.72 billion tons, as well as proactively raising production capacity through the construction of the Coal Handling Facility (CHF) and Train Loading Station (TLS) 6-7 which will add to the transportation facility of up to 20 million tons per annum, so that production is targetted to increase from 43 million tons to more than 60 million tons per annum.

In the downstream agenda, MIND ID and all Members, support the formation of an electrical vehicle battery industry ecosystem to storage energy that can create the renewable energy industry ecosystem.

Strategic minerals such as nickel, copper, bauxite, and tin are already produced in raw material form ready for further processing by the manufacturing industry.

“We are not only focused on the optimization of mineral and coal production, but also on raising the added value through downstreaming, strengthening the domestic supply chain, energy efficiency, as well as development of industry ecosystem based on cleaner and sustainable energy,” concluded Maroef.
