MIND ID Ensures Upstream Downstream Added Value for National Benefit

JAKARTA - MIND ID or Mining Industry Indonesia, the Holding State-Owned Enterprise for the Mining Industry, emphasizes its role as the driver of national mineral and coal downstreaming by ensuring that the natural resource management is conducted in an integrated manner from upstream to downstream.

MIND ID encourages the creation of bigger industrial added value, while at the same time, ensures that the economic and social benefits are felt widely by the public.

MIND ID Corporate Secretary, Pria Utama, said that as the strategic active holding company, MIND ID integrates all activities of mining, processing to social responsibility programs in all Group members to build sustainable national mineral industry ecosystem.

The downstream programs conducted by all Group Members are integrated from upstream to downstream, and have the ability to strengthen the national mineral industry value chain as well as produce optimal economic impact for the country.

“MIND ID is consistently uniting various downstream initiatives in the Group from upstream to downstream. This integration is important so that mineral resource management does not stop at the mining activities, but able to create bigger industrial added value for the national economy,” Pria said in the MIND ID’s Breaking the Fast event with the Media, Thursday (5/3/2026).

Pria stressed that at the upstream sector, MIND ID adopts Good Mining Practice since the pre-mining, mining, to post mining phases, to ensure that operations are still aligned to environmental sustainability, as well as maintaining biodiversity around the operational areas.

Such approach places ecosystem protection as the foundation in creating sustainable added value.

At the downstream phase, MIND ID continues to develop various strategic projects as the national mineral value chain movement. Various projects currently in the development phase are, among others, the Module & Pack (M&P) Plant and Cell Plant Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) facility at Karawang as part of the electrical vehicle battery ecosystem, development of processing and purification of bauxite-alumina-aluminium facility in Mempawah, West Kalimantan, as well as the coal logistic facility expansion at Tanjung Enim-Kramasan corridor.

The strengthening of the downstreaming efforts are also in line with the national investment trend. In 2025, the downstream sector donated about Rp584.1 trillion or 30.2% of national investment realization, showing that the development of natural resource based industry is one of the important motors in transforming Indonesia’s economy.

Pria also stressed that the downstreaming benefits are not only reflected in increased industrial added value, but also through the absorption of local workers, rise in regional income, as well as the construction of supporting infrastructures in operational areas.

MIND ID also implements various district minimum wage programs, improvements to health access, as well as strengthening public education in order that industriies can grow inclusively.

“For MIND ID, the downstreaming efforts for national benefit means to ensure that each mineral resource being managed is able to provide added value for the national economy, strengthen industrial self-reliance, as well as raising public welfare in the areas surrounding operational territories,” concluded Pria Utama.
